Tips and Good Practices for Emails
December 2022
In 2018, I had the opportunity to share my passion for email design with my colleagues at Ki Technologies. During my presentation at "Update Day", we explored a series of tips and best practices for creating emails that are not only visually appealing, but also effective in terms of communication and conversion.
Why is it important to design good emails?
In an increasingly digital world, email remains a fundamental communication tool. Whether for marketing, sales, or simply keeping in touch with loved ones, well-designed emails can make all the difference. An attractive and well-structured email is more likely to be read and generate the desired response.
The key points of my presentation
Although the slides in my presentation offer a complete overview of the topics covered, below I summarize some of the key points that I consider most relevant:
- Know your audience: Before designing an email, it is essential to understand who you are addressing. What are your interests, needs and preferences?
- Less is more: Avoid saturating the email with too much information. Focus on a clear and concise message.
- Visual hierarchy: Use visual elements such as headings, subheadings, and lists to guide the reader through the content.
- High-quality images: Images can significantly improve the look of your email, but make sure they are optimized for fast loading.
- Responsiveness: Design your emails to adapt to different devices (mobile phones, tablets, etc.).
- Clear calls to action: Clearly indicate what you want the recipient to do after reading your email (click a link, download a file, etc.).
- A/B Testing: Experiment with different designs and content to identify what works best.
- Accessibility: Make sure your email is accessible to all users, including those with visual impairments.
The importance of continuous training
Email design is a constantly evolving field. What works today may not work tomorrow. Therefore, it is essential to stay updated and continue learning new techniques and tools.
