A journey through time through medieval music
July 2015
Who said that design only lives on screens and lines of code? Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected places, like an encounter with medieval music.
Last Friday I was lucky enough to attend the 2nd Medieval Music Meeting, an experience that transported me to another era. The Mira Gestorum group, with their mastery and passion, gave us a night full of melodies that resonated in the depths of my being.
The magic of medieval music
With its rich history and its ability to evoke such deep emotions, it has always fascinated me. And Mira Gestorum demonstrated it perfectly. Every note, every instrument, every piece performed was a journey through time.
It was fascinating to hear the explanations about the instruments and historical contexts of each piece. I realized that music is not only sound, but also a window to the past, a way to connect with disappeared cultures and civilizations.
Design and music: an unexpected link
What does medieval music have to do with design? More than you imagine. Both are creative disciplines that seek to excite, communicate and create experiences. Like good design, medieval music is capable of conveying a wide range of emotions, from joy and euphoria to sadness and melancholy.
Furthermore, both music and design are products of their time and place. Studying medieval music helps us better understand the aesthetics and values of an era, which in turn can inspire us to create more authentic and meaningful designs.
Don't miss the opportunity to live this experience!
