A Dragon Illuminates my Workshop: Creating a Light Screen

Like many makers, my workshop is a hotbed of creativity where ideas come to life thanks to the magic of 3D printing. However, the intense light I use for my printers used to be a pain during work hours. I needed a solution that would allow me to illuminate my printing area without sacrificing my visual comfort.

A dragon to the rescue

The solution came from the manufacturer of my printer itself. On the Creality website I found a 3D model of a dragon, perfect to fit the aesthetic of my machine. The idea of having a dragon guarding my workspace and at the same time serving as a screen for light seemed great to me.

The creation process

After downloading the STL model, I set about printing it on my Ender 3S1. The printing took about 20 hours, but the end result was worth it. With the brackets removed, I carefully installed the screen, making sure it adequately covered the most annoying light source.

Results

The result exceeded all my expectations. The dragon screen not only fulfills its function of blocking direct light, but also adds a personal and unique touch to my workshop. Additionally, the design and manufacturing process allowed me to put my 3D printing skills to use and customize my workspace.

Conclusions

This project showed me that with a little creativity and the right tools, we can solve everyday problems in a fun and original way. Additionally, it allowed me to connect even more with my community of makers and take full advantage of the possibilities of 3D printing.
