Pill Box: Minimalist and Functional Design with a Mapuche Touch

We know that pills are an important part of our lives, and it is essential to take care of every detail to ensure their correct administration. One aspect that is often overlooked is the importance of preserving the original packaging of the pills. Studies such as the

A design designed for functionality and safety

With this in mind, I designed a pill box that allows you to store pill strips without removing them from their original packaging. This minimalist and functional box has an interior of 9.5 cm x 5.5 cm x 2 cm, enough space to accommodate most drug blister packs.

Key Features:

  • Frictionless Closure: For comfortable and silent opening and closing.
  • Ergonomic lid: With a slightly larger extension for easier grip.
  • Minimalist design: Clean and simple lines that adapt to any environment.
  • Mapuche Ornament: A detail that pays tribute to the original culture of Chile and Argentina, incorporating the Ngümin/Guemil symbology.

Why the Ngümin/Guemil symbol?

This ancestral symbol represents harmony, balance and connection with nature. By incorporating it into the design of the box, I sought to convey a sense of well-being and self-care.

The design process

The design of this box was carried out using Blender, an open source 3D modeling software. From initial sketches, I refined the shape and dimensions until I achieved a result that met my expectations.

3D printing: bringing the idea to life

Once the digital design was finished, I proceeded to 3D print the box. This process allowed me to obtain a physical prototype and make the necessary adjustments before mass production.

Benefits of using this box:

  • Greater safety: By keeping the original packaging, you reduce the risk of dosing errors and contamination.
  • Organization: Keep your medications organized and close at hand.
  • Personalization: You can customize the box with different colors to adapt it to your style.
  • Sustainability: By using recycled materials for 3D printing, you contribute to caring for the environment.

Conclusion

This pill box is more than just an object. It is a practical and aesthetic solution that prioritizes the health and well-being of its users. In addition, it represents an opportunity to connect with our roots and value the cultural richness of our native peoples.
